Music Monday: Foster the People ~ Helena Beat

The video is an odd mashup of “Children of the Corn” and Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road,” but the song is still amazing.

Port Days #3 & #4 ~ St. Lucia & Antigua

Halfway point of the cruise already?! Time goes by so fast when you’re enjoying yourself!

St. Lucia

Any good day starts off with breakfast on the balcony in paradise.

A gorgeous day to a take a party boat ride over to the Pitons, where we continued our journey by bus to a plantation for…ZIPLINING!

Pitons - St. Lucia

I was petrified at the thought originally, which is odd because I love rides AND heights. Chris, who is not a fan of heights, had no trouble, of course!

After some encouraging inner dialogue and being shamed by the much younger and older members of our party, I made my way through the course.

It got easier with every line we took – eight in all – through a scenic jungle course. We made our way back to the dock to catch the party boat back to the port, did some souvenir shopping and took in the local cuisine.

And beer…I earned this!

We decided to skip Celebrity’s “The Show” that night since we had seen it on the Solstice.  We also fell asleep the last time, but I digress – most people love the show! It was cocktail attire night, though, so we got gussied up for the MDR and then scurried over to the Martini Bar afterwards for some cocktails, all while heading to Antigua!

Antigua

Again, another amazing day for weather in the Caribbean!  We went on a safari off-road ride through Antigua with an hour stop at the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen.  The stop wasn’t originally listed on our tour, so we weren’t really dressed appropriately, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying every second.

Much rum punch was consumed throughout our tour and some regional beer was had at lunch on shore.

There are so many more pictures from this tour. Check them all out here.

Needless to say we came back to the Celebrity Silhouette in a partying mood – it was vacation after all – and headed straight for the pool and Jacuzzi. We sobered up over tea time in our room in time to get ready for the show of the evening, which was a terrible comic (sorry, but it’s true!). Dinner at the MDR was, of course, delicious.  After that, we were pretty tuckered from a full day of fun, so we relaxed in our room while the ship sailed us towards St. Maarten.

Port Days #1 & #2 ~ St. John & St. Kitts

St. John

Our first stop!  The weather was gorgeous and we booked a fantastic catamaran excursion to St. John, as we had already visited St. Thomas once before. Our boat dropped anchor at Honeymoon Beach and we took the dingy to shore for some swimming and beach relaxation. We dove into the beautiful, crystal-clear water, which is when — dun, dun, duuuuuun — my husband’s wedding band somehow slipped off his finger. We spent pretty much the rest of our time there looking for the ring, but even with the help of some friendly snorklers nearby, we could not find it. Chris was a mess…I did my best to be supportive. It was, after all, just a ring and shouldn’t ruin an otherwise wonderful outing. We made our way back to the catamaran and drowned our sorrows in rum punch, which went a long way in brightening our spirits before returning to the ship for dinner and setting sail to St. Kitts.  Needless to say, we didn’t take a lot of pictures at this particular port.

As an aside, we called the jeweler who made our wedding bands and ordered a new ring while still on the cruise, which was ready by the time we returned from the trip — and we saw our officiant two weeks later at a friend’s wedding, who was kind enough to bless the rings again, so alls well that ends well.

St. Kitts

Another wonderful day in paradise!

St. Kitts

We took another excursion that started off on a catamaran — where the rum punch and Carib flowed freely, even in the early AM!

St. Kitts

We made our way around the coastline of St. Kitts before meeting a bus that would later take us to the slowest train on Earth, guiding us through the rest of the island.

We hopped on a bus that brought us back to port where we did some shopping (mainly for a wedding band!) and stopped at Fat Tuesdays for some frosty adult beverages before heading back to the ship for a late lunch.

St. Kitts

We enjoyed more activities on the ship that night — like the sail away party, the variety show and the late night comedy hour — all while on our way to St. Lucia!
