Second Wedding Anniversary

Year Two…it’s been quite a ride since our wedding on October 8, 2011.

There have been amazing highs and incredible lows.  I couldn’t have asked for a better partner through it all.

Onward and upward to Year Three, where we expand our family of three (including the Evil Corgi) to a family of four with a bouncing baby boy due any day!

Seaside Strong

I’ve spent nearly a portion, if not all, of every Summer of my life in Seaside Park, NJ.

It’s a second home to me.  A place that holds amazing childhood memories.

In October 2012, Superstorm Sandy pummeled the Jersey Shore, including Seaside Park and neighboring Seaside Heights (along with many other shore towns along the coast). My family’s vacation home was spared with little damage, but many others were not so lucky.

My husband and I returned to Seaside Park post-Sandy in early July and what was evident was the resilience of Jersey Shore residents and business owners — rebuilding and celebrating every victory along the way. By the time we had made our last visit on Labor Day weekend, the Seaside boardwalk was back into full-swing.

On Thursday, September 12, 2013, another tragedy hit this small, but close-knit, community — the fire that all but entirely leveled the Seaside Park section of their famous boardwalk.  The photos were devastating.  Watching the video of the log flume building collapse on Funtown Pier was even worse.

My son, who is due in October, will know a very different Seaside than his parents, but the community will rebuild and show that they aren’t just Jersey Strong, but Seaside Strong.

My heart goes out to all those affected by this horrible tragedy.
